How Much Does a Trip to Georgia Cost from the UAE? (Budget Breakdown 2026)

Planning a holiday from Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Georgia? We break down the real costs in AED: flights, hotels, Halal food, and the new 2026 insurance rules.

Introduction

One of the main reasons Georgia is the #1 holiday destination for UAE residents is the incredible value for money. Your Dirhams go a long way here.

First, let’s look at the currency. The Georgian currency is the Lari (GEL).

  • Exchange Rate (Approx. 2026): 1 AED = 0.74 GEL

  • Easy Math: 100 AED is roughly 74 Lari.

  • Tip: Do not exchange money at UAE airports. Bring USD or EUR and exchange them in Tbilisi city center for the best rates.

1. Flight Costs: The “Kutaisi vs. Tbilisi” Choice

Your flight will be your biggest single expense. The price depends heavily on which airport you choose.

Airline / RouteTraveler ProfileApprox. Cost (Return)
Wizz Air (Abu Dhabi to Kutaisi)Budget / Backpackers300 – 600 AED (No check-in bag)
flydubai / Air Arabia (DXB/SHJ to Tbilisi)Families / Comfort1,200 – 1,800 AED
Emirates / Georgian AirwaysPremium2,000+ AED

Pro Tip: Flying to Kutaisi saves money, but remember it is a 3.5-hour drive to Tbilisi. If you are traveling with small children for a short 3-day trip, we recommend flying directly to Tbilisi to save time.

2. Accommodation Costs (Per Night)

Prices vary by season. December (New Year) and July/August are peak seasons.

  • Budget (Hostels/Guesthouses): 50 – 80 GEL (~70 – 110 AED)

    • Best for solo travelers.

  • Mid-Range (3-4 Star Hotels): 150 – 250 GEL (~200 – 340 AED)

    • Best for couples and small families. Clean, breakfast included.

  • Luxury (5-Star Int’l Chains): 400+ GEL (~550+ AED)

    • Radisson, Marriott, etc.

3. Food & Dining Costs

For UAE residents, food in Georgia is very affordable.

  • Street Food (Khachapuri/Shawarma): 5 – 15 GEL (~7 – 20 AED)

  • Mid-Range Dinner (local Georgian restaurant): 40 – 60 GEL per person (~55 – 80 AED)

  • Indian / Arabic / Halal Restaurant: 50 – 80 GEL per person (~70 – 110 AED)

    • Note: Indian and Arabic food in Tbilisi is slightly more expensive than local Georgian food.

4. Transportation Within Georgia

  • Private Driver for Day Trips (e.g., to Mountains/Gudauri, Kakheti, Kazbegi, Mestia, Borjomi, Bakuriani):

    • This is the best option for families.

    • Expect to pay 280 – 450 GEL (380 – 600 AED) per day for a car with a driver/guide. This includes fuel, parking, Any other car expenses.
