When does it snow in Georgia? Is July too hot? We break down the best time to visit Georgia from the UAE for snow, Eid holidays 2026, and summer escapes.
Best Time to Visit Georgia from Dubai: Snow, Weather & Seasons Explained (2026 Guide)
Introduction: The 3.5-Hour Climate Swap
For UAE residents, Georgia is the closest place to swap sand for snow or 45°C heat for a cool mountain breeze. A short 3.5-hour flight lands you in a completely different climate zone.
However, “Best Time” depends entirely on what you want to see. Do you want white snow or green nature?
1. The “Snow Season” (December to March)
Best for: Families who want to see snow for the first time, skiing, and winter cozy vibes.
Where to go: Gudauri, Bakuriani (Tbilisi city rarely gets heavy snow).
The Breakdown:
December: Snow begins in the mountains, but cover can be light until late December. Tbilisi is festive with Christmas markets.
January & February (PEAK SNOW): These are the best months for snow. Gudauri is a winter wonderland with thick powder. Temperatures in mountains drop to -10°C, but it is a “dry cold” unlike the damp cold of Europe.
March: The “shoulder” month. You might catch the last of the snow in Gudauri, but it can be slushy. Tbilisi starts turning green.
UAE Resident Tip: If you want to touch snow, do not book a hotel only in Tbilisi. You must book at least 2 nights in a ski resort like Gudauri (2 hours drive from the capital).
2. The “Green Season” (April to June)
Best for: Nature lovers, honeymooners, and Eid Al Fitr / Eid Al Adha holidays.
Weather: Pleasant (18°C – 25°C). Everything is blooming.
Why travel now?
This is the most comfortable time for walking tours in Old Tbilisi and visiting the wine regions (Kakheti). It is not too hot, not too cold.
📅 Key Dates for 2026 Planning:
Eid Al Fitr (Approx. March 20–22): Cool weather, perfect for a city break.
Eid Al Adha (Approx. May 27–30): Perfect “Green Season” weather. High demand—book your driver 2 months in advance!
3. The “Summer Escape” (July & August)
Best for: Escaping the UAE summer heat (50°C).
Weather: Tbilisi can get warm (30°C+), but it is still much cooler than Dubai.
Where to hide from the heat:
Don’t stay in the city! In July and August, you should head to:
Batumi (Black Sea): For beaches and nightlife.
Kazbegi / Mountains: Even in August, the mountains are cool (20°C) and breezy. A perfect break from the Dubai humidity.
