Georgia Visa for UAE Residents 2026: Do You Need a Visa? (Indian & Filipino Expats Guide
Planning a trip to Tbilisi? New 2026 rules for UAE residents! Check if Indian & Filipino expats need a visa, the new insurance law, and validity requirements before you book.
Introduction
If you are a UAE resident dreaming of the snowy peaks of Gudauri or the historic streets of Tbilisi, you’re not alone. Georgia is the #1 holiday spot for UAE expats because it’s close, affordable, and beautiful.
However, rules have changed for 2026.
While many UAE residents can still enter Georgia without applying for a visa in advance, specific requirements for Indian, Filipino, Pakistani, and other expat nationalities have tightened. This guide breaks down exactly what you need to board your flight safely.
The Golden Rule: Visa-Free Entry (With Conditions)
Technically, Georgia does not offer a “Visa on Arrival” where you pay at a counter. Instead, they offer Visa Exemption (free entry stamp) if you hold a valid UAE Residency Visa.
You can enter Georgia for 90 days (per 180-day period) without a visa if:
You have a valid passport (valid for at least 3 months after you intend to leave Georgia).
You have a valid UAE Residence Visa (Emirates ID is not enough; the visa stamp/digital visa is key).
⚠️ Critical Warning: The “1-Year Validity” Trap
This is where 50% of travelers get rejected at the airport. For many nationalities (including Indians and Filipinos), your UAE Residence Visa must be valid for at least 6 to 12 months from the day you enter Georgia.
Safe Zone: If your UAE visa expires in more than 1 year.
Danger Zone: If your UAE visa expires in less than 6 months, you may be denied entry.
Action: If your residency is expiring soon, do not risk it. Apply for the E-Visa instead.
🚨 NEW 2026 REQUIREMENT: Mandatory Travel Insurance
Effective January 1, 2026
The Georgian government has introduced a mandatory law for all tourists. You will not be allowed to enter the country without proof of insurance.
Coverage Required: Minimum 30,000 GEL (approx. 40,000 AED/11,000 USD) for health and accidents.
What to show: A printed or digital policy document in English.
Cost: It is very cheap (usually 15-30 AED per day) but mandatory.
Pro Tip: Don’t rely on your credit card’s “hidden” insurance. Buy a specific travel insurance policy that explicitly states “Georgia” and the coverage amount. Print the certificate.
